What investments mean
Filed Under Investing 101 | Leave a Comment
Investment is quite simply, using a pile of money to make a bigger pile of money.
There are many ways where this can be done. You can spend the money on property, develop the property, allow for capital appreciation, sell and rent out the property and make more money.
You may buy bonds, which are a guarantee by a company or government agency to repay the money with interest after a certain time period.
The stock market can be more risky but may offer higher returns for those who are able to predict accurately the trends ot certain stocks. Often, these stocks require good fundamentals and hopefully are presently undervalued. But remember, stocks on an upward trend tend to move upwards. Stocks on a downward trend tend to move downwards. It is often foolhardy to guy a bottom-outed stock and hope that it will miraculously make a turnaround and appreciate. It is often much smarter to back a winner, which can appreciate over years, like Microsoft, Apple, Coca-cola, among others.
Futures are an extremely risky way of investing, recommended only for expert professionals, where they try to predict trends of future commodities, for example, metals, even food, and oil.
